Dr. Yuengling is one of the foremost diversity practitioners in the public and private sectors. She is a seasoned executive and thought leader in the diversity arena, blending expertise in creating inclusive environments with experience in organizational behavior and the strategic management of human capital. Dr. Yuengling has over 30 years perspective working with leaders in the private and government sectors in the US and Europe to create change that makes lasting impact for her clients and their businesses.
Dr. Yuengling is a published author on the leadership competencies required to effectively lead a diverse workforce as well as how to conduct rigorous diversity analyses and development of appropriate metrics for accountability. She has developed and delivered training sessions to US and international audiences on managing diversity for high performance environments, including cross-cultural communications, multi-cultural teams, and the creation of inclusive work environments. In addition, she has significant experience advising senior military leaders on cross-cultural leadership, communication, high performance and followership issues . Dr. Yuengling serves as adjunct faculty at the Naval Postgraduate School, and writes a bi-monthly column in Diversity Issues in High Education on bridging the research/practitioner gap. Dr. Yuengling served on the ANSI/ISSO Standards Board for establishing qualifications and competencies for diversity practitioners. Holding an MBA in international finance as well as a PhD in Organizational Development, Dr. Yuengling possesses a unique blend of strong business management skills, thought leadership, and a deep understanding of organizational processes.
Dr. Dale Jones - Managing Partner As the Managing Partner of RY&A, Dr. Jones is responsible, with Dr. Yuengling, for the firm’s strategic focus, vision, and mission, while also managing its day-to-day operations. He has over 30 years of experience working with senior leaders in the government, military, and private sector on issues of leadership, strategic planning, strategic communications, and leading diverse teams. Prior to joining RY&A in 2011, he served as the Secretary of the Army’s Deputy Chief for Congressional Affairs in the US House of Representatives.
Dr. Jones is a retired Army officer and combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He holds a doctorate in English with a concentration in American Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has taught courses in American studies and leadership as Adjunct Faculty at Duke University, the University of Texas at Arlington, and DePaul University, among others. He is the author of several articles on American cultural and military topics published in various professional journals.
Ms. Donnielle DeMesme - Senior Consultant Donnielle DeMesme brings more than 20 years of experience in the areas of diversity and inclusion (D&I) and human capital management to RY&A. She is committed to social justice, bridging cultural differences, fostering learning and growth, and creating a more productive and happier workforce. Donnielle has deep knowledge of creating high performing organizations through building partnerships, developing and facilitating diversity, and implementing multicultural training. She also has experience gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and creating strategies that facilitate communication and trust at all levels of an organization.
Donnielle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Virginia and a Master of Science degree in Adult Learning and Human Resource Development from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is the Board Chair of the DC Metro Business Leadership Network, an organization whose mission is to engage, educate, and inform employers so that they learn how to proactively include people with disabilities in the workforce, and how to meet supplier diversity and compliance goals.
Mr. Carl Baldwin - Senior Consultant
Carl brings over 20 years of experience leading teams, managing multifaceted programs, delivering training, coaching, and helping organizations turn diversity into strength. He has developed and facilitated hundreds of programs for clients across the government as well as the private and non-profit sectors, working with leaders at all levels from front-line managers to senior executives and military flag officers. Carl is committed to helping our clients achieve bottom-line, mission-oriented results through the development of a fully engaged workforce, getting 100% commitment from 100% of employees.
Carl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and is qualified in MBTI, FIRO-B, DiSC, and the OPM Leadership 360 as well as other related tools for measuring and improving workplace inclusion, management, and performance.
Ms. Ruth Alicia Sandoval - Senior Consultant
With over 20 years of business experience, Ms. Sandoval is an expert in Contextual Systems Analysis, developing insightful collaborative business and community strategies and partnerships. including extensive expertise in community development, supply chain management, diversity and inclusion. A seasoned corporate executive Ms. Sandoval is experienced in corporate governance, board/corporate management, has implemented and managed a variety of programs, products, services, and initiatives. She supports us with corporate consulting, strategic planning, and market analysis.
Her experience includes, BusinessconX, Sodexo’s Vice President of Strategic Partners & Alliances, Presidential Appointee for President William J. Clinton at the U.S. Department of Commerce, as Deputy Director of Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) and Deputy Associate Deputy Administrator for Economic Development for the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). Ms. Sandoval a graduate of Wade College, the Dartmouth MBE Program, and the Harvard Business School Corporate Governance Program for HACR, is multicultural and multilingual, fluent in English, Spanish and French. Ms. Sandoval was the founding chair of HACR/Harvard Business School Alumni Association, served as Board Trustee of the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute at USC, on the Advisory Board of Shine Global, and founding member of the Hispanic Bankers Association. In May of 2009 Ms. Sandoval was appointed by Gov. Tim Kaine to the Board of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and served the Commonwealth of Virginia through July of 2012. Ms. Sandoval served as President of the National Hispanic Business Group from 2013 to 2015.
Taylor Jones - Consultant/Researcher
Taylor brings to RY&A a unique set of talents, as a facilitator/trainer and as a researcher. In addition to working in a consultative capacity with our major DoD clients, Taylor is a doctoral student in Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania. He has presented papers to the Linguistics Society of America, the American Dialect Society, the New Ways of Analyzing Variation conference, and the Penn Linguistics Conference. His research on language and social media has been published in Linguistics Journal American Speech, and he has given talks at Stanford University, New York University, the University of Texas and Gettysburg College. His approach and understanding of modeling language change and variation, social stratification in language and his knowledge of topics in African American English brings a valuable perspective to the topic of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Ms. Jessie Kalbfeld - Consultant/Researcher Jessie Kalbfeld is a Senior Research Associate who provides both quantitative and qualitative research support for public and private sector clients on effective leadership of diverse workforces. Having graduated summa cum laude from New York University, where she obtained a BA at the Gallatin School for Individualized Study, she went on to complete an MA in Applied Quantitative Research from the NYU Department of Sociology in 2014. She is currently a PhD student in Sociology at NYU, where her research focuses on the intersection of race, law, and inequality. She has a particular interest in how unconscious bias plays a role in the perpetuation and replication of institutionalized inequality. Jessie has presented papers on the intersection of race, neighborhood change and the implementation of stop and frisk police activities at the American Society of Criminology conference as well as the meeting of the Law and Society Association. She presented research on anonymous online posting at the Eastern Sociological Society. Jessie’s research is supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. She is a MacCracken Fellow and a Furman Law Fellow at NYU’s law school..
Mr. Chris Hall - Consultant/Researcher
Chris Hall has been part of the RY&A team for 5 years, where he is a gifted trainer and facilitator. He studied linguistics at the University of Rochester. He was previously employed at Bloomberg, where he worked in International IT Support. Chris is fluent in multiple languages including French, Portuguese, and Spanish. At RY&A he has facilitated work with the National Guard, Department of Defense, and Department of Navy. He also oversees our translation work. He is currently is engaged in cross-cultural and linguistic research, specifically at the intersection of bias and dialect.
